Bali is one of the most visited places as tourism destinations in the world. The fantastic view and nature of Bali attract many travelers to come there along year. Bali has a lot of spots to visit such as beaches, waterfalls, temples, rice fields, iconic landmarks, and so on. If you visit Bali, I really recommend you to visit temples. There are many temples in Bali since the majority of Balinese are Hindu. One you should not miss visiting is Uluwatu Temple.

Uluwatu Temple is located in Pecatu Village, Kuta South District. This is a holy place for Balinese Hindus, where they pray and practice their religion. Uluwatu temple is located on the cliff edge where you can watch the beautiful ocean on the bottom of the cliff. These lists are everything you need to know before visiting Uluwatu Temple. Well, without further due let’s move to the list.

Plan Your Trip

The first thing you need to know is planning your trip, which in more detail means you need to know the best time to go there and the transportation to reach Uluwatu Temple. You might better visit Uluwatu in the afternoon around 1 to 3 pm, you might walk around Uluwatu for one hour even more since it is a very large temple.

Then you can watch Kecak dance there while enjoying the sunset view. Make sure you have the ticket for watching Kecak dance there days before the Showtime because probably the ticket will be sold out if it's purchased close to the date.

Install Gojek and Grab on Your Mobile Phone

In Indonesia, there are two popular online transportations that you can order through mobile apps called Gojek and Grab. You have to install these apps, it really helps. You can go to the Uluwatu temple by ordering a car from Gojek or Grab. You also can order food from these apps. Even it has many promos available for you in ordering foods or transportations.

Etiquette in Uluwatu Temple

Before entering Uluwatu temple you have to follow manners in using dress. Visitors are required to wear tops that cover upper body, avoid using tops without covering upper body such as tank top, singlet-shirt, or other similar ones. If you use short pants the guide at Uluwatu Temple will ask you to wear a sarong to cover your body part from waist to ankles with a scarf or shawl is tied at the waist right outside the sarong, but if you use trouser you only asked to use scarf or shawl at the waist.

Anyway, this dress manner is also applied at all temples in Bali. Uluwatu Temple and other temples are holy places for Hindus. So it is important to wear proper cloth to respect the local wisdom.

Monkey Everywhere, Take Care of Your Belongings

On the path way of Uluwatu Temple, you might find many monkeys around. Take care of your belongings otherwise it could be taken by the monkey. I recommended not to bring valuable  items or wear things that can attract animals to steal it like expensive earrings, necklaces, expensive sunglasses and other accessories. Immediately hide your camera and smartphone in the path of Uluwatu Temple when you see monkey group hanging around. In case your valuable items were taken by the monkeys, give a try  to exchange it with peanut or banana, it might work.
