Traveling Experience in Tidung Island Jakarta

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia. Indonesia is quite popular for having so many beautiful island and of course beach around the world. Many people just know Bali Island, actually Bali just a part of Indonesia. A thousand beautiful island can be found in it. Then imagine if you were in it right now, what would you do?... Any ideas?... 

I bet you have many bucket lists in mind already. We realize that  Bali is the most popular tourism  destination in Indonesia. But Jakarta as a capital city is one of the most visited place too. In many mass media or social media many people figure out Jakarta as a busy city with many sky scraper buildings, busy traffic road, business and government center.

One things you should know about Jakarta that it has a beach, island and sea as well, which many foreigners not realize it. When you are in Jakarta don't just explore the city with it modern touch but find beautiful nature which you can find in northern Jakarta. Trough this post, I am gonna share my experience in enjoying traveling activity in Tidung Island. 

 

There is an administrative regency in northern Jakarta called The Thousand Island (Kepulauan Seribu), Tidung island is the part of Thousand Island regency. We found information from internet that Tidung Island is visited by many people a long year.   It is a small island with a  lot of activities. I and some of my friends arranged an itinerary to visit this island before covid 19 pandemic. First thing we do is by searching a local guide who can help us to conduct our planing. Yeah, actually it is very easy to find from social media the local guide who offered a traveling trip to Tidung island. We contact the guide and he offer us the trip package to explore Tidung Island. We were seven and pay for 200k rupiahs per person, it is about $100 in total.

With that cost, the guide provide us a trip from Angke harbor to Tidung Island by small ferry. He had a friend in the harbor who guide us to enter the ship. Then he was already in Tidung island for welcoming us. We had the trip for to days one night. We departed in Saturday and got back home in Sunday. 

 

Really enjoying the trip in the ship. It was my first experience to have a traveling with ship in wide sea. The day we went was bright with clear sun shine, really enjoying the sun shine from the ship. Almost all group of people in the ship are traveler who want to spend vacation in Tidung Island too.

Then after almost two hours we arrived in Tidung island. People were gathering in group meet their each guide man and we do so. Our itinerary started to ran. Firstly, we go to home stay , taking a rest for a while. After one hour in home stay we start our journey surrounding the island with bicycle. These lists are our excited activities during having vacation on Tidung Island.

Exploring the island by bike

This was an exciting activity, we were taking a bike to explore the island around. You know, Tidung Island is just a small island, you can surround it only by bicycle. When Surrounding Tidung Island we explored citizen public facilities. We can find public facilities such school, mosque, health center,local government administrative office, park, citizen hall, and many more.

We keep going around with our bike. Enjoying nature view, green grass and blue sea every where. There are so many people who did the same activity as we did. Most people of Tidung Island work as a fisherman. We can buy many kind of sea food, fresh fish or dried fish in Tidung Island. All the sea product can be found with very cheap price.

The sun starts setting down, many people came to sunset photo spot with beautiful sea scenery. Get ready with your camera, don't miss the sunset moment when visiting Tidung Island. Enjoying sunset is our last activities in the first day. Next, we went back to home stay, took a bath and relaxing our tired leg after bicycling in exploring the island a long day. We had been contacted by our guide that we had a Barbecue night for dinner. Really glad to hear that.

Our itinerary was not only in the day but also at night. We were served to have Barbecue night. Roasted fish and corn is our dish at night. Fish and corn and everything is prepared by our guide. Fortunately the weather is so bright, we can see the star in the sky with beautiful moon. Then fireworks is every where, many traveler played fireworks at night that provided by their guide. The fish dish so delicious, may be it is because we ate together cheerfully. We were so tired and we tough that we will just have a normal dinner so we did not bring the camera for documentation.

Snorkeling  

In  the second day we have a schedule for snorkeling. It was new experience to me. In the morning once we had finished our breakfast, then we prepare ourselves for snorkeling. The guide tell us for safety guidance and drive us to wear snorkeling outfit. Our guide explain with jokes to makes us relax . All of us walked together to the beach. There were a boat prepared to bring us to the beautiful sea to see coral and sea animal in snorkeling spot.

Indonesia so amazing it has so beautiful under sea water scenery, watching the coral directly with my eyes and diving accompanied by little fish is gonna be a memorable moment for me. Be careful when you are diving, many corals are sharp it can hurt your hands when touching it. 

Exploring the sea by boat 

After snorkeling, then we continue to explore the sea by boat, taking memorable picture , all team in one frame. I feel so blessed having this experience. It is always interesting to have vacation in sea. I really like to see the gradient color of sea. We jump from the boat and swam together and enjoying our day full of fun.

Those my story with my traveling team in exploring beautiful nature of northern Jakarta. I hope the government and local tourism enthusiast community improve their way in promoting this hidden paradise to attract more tourist and help people easier to find the way to Tidung Island for vacation.
