Places to Visit in Yogyakarta
Located in java island, Yogyakarta is one of the most recomended places to visit in Indonesia. It is a special region in Indonesia since it has a sultan as a leader in Yogyakarta. Sultanate of Yogyakarta has been running its civilization for centuries since 1700's. Sultan and his royal family live in keraton with his previlage in governing people of Yogyakarta. So, there is no governor in Yogyakarta but sultan is.
I have gone to Yogyakarta, and visited some places that nice to share trough this post. I hope you guys get some ideas about places to visit in Yogyakarta, so keep reading.

Taman Sari
Taman sari is one of the tourist attraction you must visit. It used to be a castle of palace, but now it is converted being tourist attraction which visited by many visitors along year. This old castle has pool where sultan and his concubines swam and took a bath. You can get a lot of story about this place from servants who stay in this place for answering any inquiries.

Sultanate Keraton of Yogyakarta
Keraton means palace. I am so curioues about this palace since it is so much famous and talked by many people. When entering keraton there will be a palace servant who will guide you and answering anything you ask. The people inside palace are so kind. You will charge about $1 for ticket. It is very cheap, right. Inside Yogyakarta Palace, you can learn about history of palace. Many old paintings, historical stuffs and java musical instrumens you can find there.

You can also see traditional art performance in it. The building of palace is very unique and historical, so taking some photos arround palace is an interesting thing to do.
Malioboro street
Yogyakarta has an iconic street called Maliobro street. This street is located in down town of Yogyakarta. What you can do here are walking arround and find some craft and Batik cloth. This street decorated with beautiful flower on park, beautiful bench for pedestarian and clean sidewalk. I was buying lurik cloth when visiting Malioboro street. Lurik is a traditional java cloth, in Yogyakarta all palace courtiers using this cloth. It is so iconic, you can find many shop offering lurik cloth a long Malioboro street.
Prambanan Temple
Although mostly of Indonesian are moslems, you can find hindu temples there, it is Prambanan Temple. The temples compound covers 39.8 hectare. Mostly visitors of Prambanan wander arround the Temples on foot. When visiting this place I suggest you to bring umbrella and hat on your head because it will be very hot and you will be safe if it rains suddenly.

Borobudur Temple
Not only Hindu temple but you can also find budhist temple there. Borobudur is the world largest budhist temple. The best way to explore this temple is on foot. Visitor commonly walking arround observating the relief of temples and taking photos. The relief actually tell you about history of this temple, so when visiting Borobudur Temple don't miss to learn about the history which captured on its reliefs. This temple is so much large, be well prepared with umbrella and hat, it will be useful when it is hot or when it rains.

Citizen Art Gallery
People of Yogyakarta are so creative, if you are in Taman Sari, then walking around the street you easily find the citizen activity in creating art craft. Kindly they will let you come in side the gallery, showing the paintings and others crafts. You will also able to learn directly from them how to create craft as they made in their workshop room. Don't hesitate to try, it is such a pleasure activity.
